Description
Reflective powder is used as a reflective pigment. Surface covered by it gains ability to reflect light back to its source and in result become well visible in low light environment. High light refraction makes this product superior when compared to ordinary reflective beads used in road marking paint.
This product is highly environment resistant - low and high temperatures, humidity or direct sunlight not affect its durability. It is worth to mention that light reflection phenomenon will be well visible when we use strong light source - like car lights or flashlight. Beside of it reflection will be seen better when observed from afar than from close distance - same as in case of road marks.
Retro-reflective powder can be used for road marking, safety clothes, crafts or similar.
How to use reflective powder:
- First cover surface with thin layer of binder (lacquer, resin, paint). When binder is still wet dust reflective powder on surface so it will stick to to it. It's important to use as thin layer of binder as possible so reflective powder particles will be partially exposed and will not drown in binder. The best option is a transparent binder - colored one also can be used but it will reduce refraction in some level.
- When binder becomes dry remove excess of reflective powder - if during production it was not contaminated, it can be used again.
- Alternatively reflective powder can be mixed with binder and then in such form used as a regular paint. However this method is not recommended - refraction will be significantly reduced.
- Securing reflective surface with protective lacquer is possible but it may also reduce refraction.
Reflective micro beads are made from glass and thanks to this fact are very chamical resistant - albeit when exposed to strong alkali or acid it may become opaque and therefore less effective.
