Photochromic pigments changes their colour when exposed to sunlight or certain levels of UV light. In normal conditions they are white or colour is only slightly visible - after exposition to bright sunlight (or UV) in only few seconds colour become vivid and intense. This process is fully reversible but photochromic pigments have quite short shelf life (around 12-24 months), also direct exposure of UV light for few hours can irreparably damage pigment.
