Description

Yttria-Stabilized Zirconia Ceramic Grinding media (Y-TZP) are designed for efficient grinding, size reduction, homogenization, and dispersion of materials in ball mills, laboratory equipment, and industrial machinery. Due to their high density, hardness, and excellent wear resistance, they are particularly suitable for intensive grinding and achieving fine and ultrafine material particle sizes.

The spherical grinding media are characterized by high mechanical strength and stability during operation. The high density of zirconia enables efficient energy transfer during the grinding process, resulting in greater grinding intensity and facilitating the achievement of fine particle sizes. For this reason, Y-TZP grinding media are commonly used in demanding grinding processes where high efficiency and reduced grinding media wear are important.

Compared to alumina (Al₂O₃) grinding media, Y-TZP grinding media have significantly higher density and greater resistance to wear and mechanical damage. This allows for more intensive energy transfer during grinding while reducing the amount of material worn away from the grinding media. This is particularly beneficial during intensive and prolonged grinding, as well as in processes where minimizing contamination of the processed material with grinding media particles is important.

Y-TZP grinding media can also be used for polishing. Their high hardness and density make them suitable for smoothing, polishing, and finishing surfaces where very good results are required.

Applications:

  • grinding and size reduction of materials,
  • intensive grinding of fine and ultrafine particles,
  • homogenization and mixing,
  • dispersion of powders, pigments, and suspensions,
  • preparation of materials for further processing,
  • production of paints, coatings, and inks,
  • ceramic and advanced materials industries,
  • laboratory and research applications,
  • polishing and surface smoothing,
  • finishing of components.

The grinding media can be used in both wet and dry grinding processes, depending on the type of equipment and the material being processed.

Key properties:

  • made from yttria-stabilized zirconia (Y-TZP),
  • high density,
  • excellent wear resistance,
  • high hardness,
  • high mechanical strength and fracture resistance,
  • good chemical resistance,
  • spherical shape ensuring uniform performance,
  • reduced wear of the grinding media during operation,
  • suitable for processes where minimizing contamination of the processed material is important.

The high density and mechanical strength of Y-TZP grinding media make them particularly suitable for demanding grinding processes, including fine and ultrafine grinding. Compared to standard alumina grinding media, they provide greater grinding intensity while simultaneously reducing contamination of the processed material.

The product is intended for laboratory, technical, and industrial applications.
