Rhodamine B

Rhodamine B is an efficient fluorescent dye for water and water-based bases. This dye is used in laboratories as a fluorescent marker, in industry as a dye for paper, inks, paints, and to a limited extent for textiles.

One of the applications of rhodamine B is leak detection and liquid flow analysis. For this application, fluorescein is the recommended dye from our offer, as rhodamine is more harmful and creates more permanent stains. For this reason, rhodamine B is recommended when additional color is needed for detection. Even in low concentrations, rhodamine B gives a distinct color (from pink to red to purple, depending on the concentration), and it is also a fluorescent dye - clearly visible in UV light.

When detecting leaks in systems that contain aluminum parts, avoid exceeding a dose of 1 g of rhodamine B per 10 l of liquid—it is best to use a concentration of 1 g per 100 l of liquid—at this concentration, the color is still well visible and the pH of the solution is neutral, which minimizes the risk of aluminum corrosion. Nevertheless, after detecting a leak, the water in the system should be replaced and the rhodamine B solution should not be heated during operation.
